Kylian Mbappé (27 years old, 23 matches and 23 goals in La Liga this season) traveled to Paris to undergo additional medical examinations. Following these assessments, the striker and Real Madrid have, for now, ruled out the possibility of surgery.

This time, it is confirmed. In an official statement, the Madrid club confirmed a sprain in Kylian Mbappé’s left knee and specified that the player is continuing with conservative treatment. No timeline for his return has been communicated.

“After the examinations carried out on our player Kylian Mbappé by French specialist doctors, under the supervision of Real Madrid’s medical services, the diagnosis of a left knee sprain has been confirmed, along with the relevance of the conservative treatment being administered. Hampered for several months by persistent knee pain, the French international is going through a difficult period. This injury could keep him sidelined for several weeks, as Real Madrid remain in the La Liga title race and are still competing in the Champions League.

A return is being considered in around three weeks, with the second leg against Manchester City on March 17 as a potential target. However, the club insists that no risks will be taken. Internally, the medical management has sparked debate, especially after the change of head doctor in January.

Mbappé’s entourage suggests he may not have been encouraged to ease off sooner, and according to Spanish press reports, the forward traveled to France last week to consult several specialists regarding the sprain he suffered in December. He was absent from the Champions League match against Benfica and did not attend the Santiago Bernabéu that evening, reportedly using that time to undergo further medical consultations.
